Crete 2022

The Institute for Mediterranean Studies, located at Nikiforou Foka 130 and Melissinou, Rethymno, Crete.

This year’s Women, Money and Markets: 1600-1900 will be held at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies in Rethymno, Crete, from July 15-17, 2022. The Institute is located in the heart of Rethymno’s Old Town, and just down the hill from The Fortezza, one of the city’s major historic landmarks.

At the conference:

Adaptation seminar held at the IMS, May 18 2022.

Length of papers: Papers should take no more than 20 minutes to present (including film clips if you have them), which allows for 10 minutes of questions from the audience and discussion. Note that each slot allows for a total of 30 minutes (i.e. 20 minutes paper + 10 minutes discussion). There are facilities for showing a PowerPoint, zoom and anything else we might need in the way of conference-presentation tech support. Make sure you show up with compatible modes, USB sticks that work on all brands, and the like – this is important for Mac users in my experience!

Tech support at the conference: Everything you need to show a powerpoint or film clip is available in the room where the conference will be held. If you are using a Mac, please be prepared for compatability issues with IBM.

Travel from the airport: I have arranged a discount with a taxi service for our participants. From Chania Airport to Rethymno or Rethymno to Chania Airport it’s 70 euros. It will cost you 80 euros from Heraklion Airport to Rethymno or Rethymno to Heraklion Airport. Please call Nikos Rizos (+0030 6971 625 869) or email him with your arrival date and time, flight number and country of origin, at nikolaos1980@hotmail.com. Nikos speaks excellent English.

Rethymno: The old town of Rethymno is labyrinthine and a bit confusing, but you can orient yourself from the city’s enormous Fortezza, and the IMS where the conference will be held is down the street from it.
